About Our Family

James and Anna

Anna and I first met in 2011 during Fresher's week at Exeter university where we were studying Theology as undergrads. We started dating in first year, got engaged in second year, and were married in the summer following our graduation! During this time we both felt God begin to put mission work on our hearts.

After proposing to Anna, it quickly dawned on me that after graduation I would need to get a job... I ended up taking a complete change of path, and made the decision to start a 6 year dentistry degree! We moved to Cardiff to start the first chapter of our married life.

While I was studying dentistry, Anna completed a Masters in Theology, and got a job with a local charity. Then in fourth year our family grew by one and we welcomed our son Max to the world. I completed my degree while Anna cared for Max, and then started my Foundation Training in a village just outside Cardiff. Anna fell pregnant again and we had to decide our next move because we were beginning to outgrow out first home! We made the decision to move to Cornwall!

In 2020 We relocated to the beautiful village of St Agnes on the north coast of Cornwall, and I was offered a job at a practice in Perranporth. Phoebe joined our family shortly after we arrived, and life here in Cornwall has been amazing.

At the beginning of 2023 Anna and I both felt God bringing mission work to the forefront of our attention again. We reached out to SIM and discovered numerous opportunities to serve. Ultimately Anna and I felt led to the Trinity Dental Clinic in Monrovia. Later that year, in October, we went to Liberia for a week to explore this opportunity further.

After much prayer and numerous discussions with loved ones and friends, Anna and I have made the decision to embark on a journey to Liberia! Our plan is to volunteer there for a period of 2-4 years. We're incredibly grateful for our fantastic support network — those who have prayed with us, offered words of encouragement, and generously contribute financially to make this move possible. We invite you to be a part of our adventure, so please stay connected to this website for updates and insights into our lives in Liberia. Your continued support means the world to us, and we look forward to sharing this journey with you!

Max and Phoebe

Max is our wonderful, wild five year old boy who in his element exploring the outside world. We call him “Magpie Max” because he is always finding shiny treasures, and also Dr Doolittle because he has a real knack for catching animals (especially rescuing rabbits from our pet cat Tom!)

Phoebe is our beautiful, sweet and fiery three year old girl who loves playing games with Max and has developed some tough skin as a result. Phoebe loves flamingoes, Grabolo, and pretending to be one of the gladiators.

Max and Phobe are best friends and we're so excited to see how they grow in their new Liberian environment!
